If you're looking for my upcycled, hand-made jewellery made from biscuit tins...you're almost in the right place!
On Tuesday 3rd May 2016, I closed my unique jewellery business, named Kate Hamilton-Hunter Studio. A devastating day for me and my 9 lovely members of staff. The jewellery that we made at our studio in Abergele, North Wales, was truly unique. Using biscuit, sweet and cake tins and upcycling them in to Hearts, Butterflies, Leaves, Birds...then putting them on sterling silver with beautiful Swarovski crystals and pearls, our jewellery was truly unique and loved by many. We were all heart-broken to close the doors, but after 12 years of trading, we had struggled to hold our place in the gift market, after the last recession. As a small manufacturing company in the UK it became harder and harder to compete with the tidal wave of cheap imports coming from overseas, as consumers demanded cheaper gift products.
Two weeks after I closed the doors, my business was bought out by a couple from Gloucestershire who have re-employed five of my staff and are breathing fresh ideas and energy into my jewellery business; I wish them well and hope that my 12 years of blood, sweat and tears will continue well into the future! If you loved my jewellery, then please support the new owners by buying from one of our many stockists who have continued with the new owners or my old website..see the link below.
