Yoga of Hope Yoga and Sound with Jo Hughes. CHARITY EVENT. Saturday NOVEMBER 18th 10am - 1.00pm. My dear friend Jo Hughes has spent many months in India and will bring her large selection of Singing Bowls to this workshop. Jo has just come back from India and her beautiful range of hand-made gift products from India and other developing countries, known as Spirit of Annwn, will be available to buy. She also has an event the next day with even more stock which she can tell you about.
We will start our morning workshop with toning into the chakras, an energising yoga practise, introducing sounds as we breathe out. We will chant OMs but with the A-U-M pronunciation and we will learn the Indian prayer to the light, the famous Gayatri mantra. Alan Drwm will give us an introduction to the healing power of vibration and we will experience this using Singing bowls, with a demo and then we will all have a chance to play the singing bowls, working in pairs and groups to play bowls on and around the body, sending sound vibrations into each chakra. Finishing with a 15-20 minute relaxation and there will be refreshments available in-between parts of the workshop.
We are raising money for a Childrens Cancer charity called Barncancer Fonden. All across the world on this day, yoga studios are running classes and workshops in an event called Yoga of Hope, initiated by one of my yoga heroines, Rachel Brathen (Yoga Girl). The hope of this extraordinary charity is to rid the world of childhood cancer. They fund research and support families going through the terrible time as their child is under-going treatment. The charity was founded in 1979 when children rarely survived cancer. Almost 40 years later, 80% of children now survive cancer. But they want that figure to be 100%, as do we all. Cancer research is shared across the world so that together we will one day see a world where every child is cured of cancer. As a mother of four healthy boys, I cannot imagine the trauma of hearing that your child has cancer. I am delighted to contribute in this way to raising funds for and awareness of this amazing charity.
Venue Mochdre Village Hall, Mochdre, Colwyn Bay, LL28 5HU. Price for this event is £25 including teas and home-made treats. £10 per person will go to the Barncancer Fonden charity.
