Yoga & Meditation classes with Kate Hamilton-Hunter DYTT DMTT
"Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind." Patanjali.
Why Practise Yoga? Yoga makes you feel great! Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. Yoga lets you tune in to what your body needs, where your mind is at and brings harmony to whole body through linking body and mind via the breath. Sounds complicated? In a class situation with a teacher guiding through this process, you can find the connection and stillness, even after one class!
For general health & well-being Yoga improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina, and keeps your joints mobile. Regular practise reduces stress and tension, boosts self esteem, improves concentration and creativity. It can help you to tone up and lose weight, improves circulation and stimulates the immune system. Ultimately we aim to create a sense of health, well-being and serenity.
And that's just the physical practise! My favourite part of my daily yoga practise is when I sit silently at the end of the asana (posture) work. My body has come into a sense of peace with itself and my mind has unwound itself during the stretches, twists and strengthening. This is the ultimate goal of our yoga practise, to be able to sit comfortably and meditate; to find peace and quiet...on the inside!
